Feminized cannabis seeds.
Feminized cannabis seeds grow into female plants, the ones that flower. No males to spot and remove, so every seed you pay for can give you a harvest. That's why most growers choose them. Here are today's prices per seed, cheapest first, from shops that ship to you.

Filters we used, and why
- Feminized: every seed grows into a female plant, the one that flowers, so you don't need to spot and remove males. Feminized or regular.
Why most growers choose feminized seeds
A cannabis plant is male or female. Only the female plant makes the buds you harvest. A male makes pollen, and once that pollen reaches your females they put their energy into seeds instead of buds. With regular seeds you get both, roughly half and half, and you need to spot and remove the males before they open.
Feminized seeds are bred so that nearly every plant is female. That saves you space, time, light and nutrients that would otherwise go to plants you throw away. For a home grow with a few plants, that difference is big.
Feminized compared with regular
| Feminized | Regular | |
|---|---|---|
| Female plants | Nearly all | About half |
| Price per seed | Usually higher | Usually lower |
| Price per flowering plant | Often lower | Often higher |
| Good for | Harvesting buds | Making your own seeds, mother plants |
| Removing males | Not needed | Needed, early in flowering |
The row that matters most is the price per flowering plant. A regular seed may cost less, but if half your seeds become males, each female costs you about twice the seed price. Read more in comparing prices fairly.
Autoflower or photoperiod?
Feminized seeds come in two flowering types, and that's the next choice to make.
- Feminized autoflowers start flowering by age, a few weeks after sprouting. You keep the light on the same schedule from seed to harvest. They stay smaller and finish faster: compare feminized autoflowers.
- Feminized photoperiods flower when the nights get longer. Indoors you switch the light to 12 hours to start flowering, so you decide how big the plant gets. Outdoors they grow all summer and flower in autumn.
Not sure? Autoflower or photoperiod walks you through it.
What to look at next
Once you know the flowering type, narrow the list by what your grow needs:
- Space: check the height bracket if you grow in a tent or on a balcony.
- Season: outdoors in the north, a short flowering time gets you a harvest before the autumn rain.
- Experience: seeds marked easy forgive a missed watering or a feeding mistake.
- Effect and taste: a direction, not a promise. See effect and taste.
- Price per seed: compare the same seeds across shops and pack sizes. See price per seed.
Can a feminized seed still turn male?
Rarely. Under heavy stress, such as light leaks during the dark period or big temperature swings, a female plant can grow a few male flowers. Keep the dark period dark and the plant comfortable, and it seldom happens.
Make it yours
- Feminized autoflowers: simple to grow, no light schedule to change.
- Feminized photoperiods: bigger plants and you decide when they flower.
- Next step: choose autoflower or photoperiod.
